Of Bangs & Excuses: 6 tips for the empowered woman from Tita Witty

Chinggay and Direk Tonet

The genesis of Tita Witty deliciously served with a side of timely pieces of advice—a NewsFeed 360 exclusive!

Chinggay and Direk Tonet

Back in 2009 when the Starbucks Planner was all the rage, two enterprising women decided they want to produce their own kind of planner.   Between the two of them, they called it the “anti-Starbucks Planner,” which they filled with their brand of self-deprecating humor.

Thus, was born Tita Witty’s “I-was-supposed-to-get-that-coffeehouse-planner-but-I-got-fat-on-the-10th-frappe” 2010 Planner.

According to Antoinette Jadaone (more popularly known as blockbuster film director Direk Tonet) and Chinggay Nuque, the planner was just a passion project that they used as a creative outlet. Back then, Direk Tonet was a production assistant while Chinggay was busy with her full-time job.

They did not even think it would be successful since they only promoted it on Multiply. But, to their surprise, demand for the planner was so huge that they ended up reprinting it more than 10 times.

These are just some of the Tita Witty products that were released throughout the years.

That first planner had this disclaimer page that unashamedly speaks about what the user cannot expect:

Sorry, ang planner na ito ay: Walang stickers. Walang coupons. Walang free ballpen na may engraved logo sa gilid. Walang bookmark na ribbon. Walang authentic leather cover. Walang discount sa spa. Walang pink. Walang perkiness. Walang kakikayan. Walang inspirational quotes. Walang tips on how to spend your summer. Pero may kalendaryo. Promise.

Fast forward to 2021, and this little passion project has now flourished into a stable venture that has produced not just planners but a story book, travel notebook, notebooks featuring different themes, and even a Wedding Guest book and a Wedding Vow book.

There is no doubt that there is something about Tita Witty’s musings, humor and witticisms that just resonates with ‘her’ target audience.

The two women are Direk Tonet Jadaone and Chinggay Nuque, founders of Witty Will Save the World, Co.

As we celebrate International Women’s Month, Tita Witty generously shares a few tips for all the empowered women out there:

On Relationships

It’s not about who’s right―pwera na lang kung siya talaga ang mali.

On Fitness Goals

Tama na ang excuses! Puro ka excuses! ‘Pag naubusan ka, dagdagan ko pa!

On Career Success

Winners never quit. Quitters never win. Carpenters never carpent.

On Dreaming Big

Aim for the moon. Reach for the stars. Dami nilang pinapaabot ‘no? Kung makautos.

On entertaining one’s self during this pandemic

Find a hobby that doesn’t start with Net and end with flix.

And, finally:

Tita Witty’s ultimate advice for the Empowered Woman

Kapag may pinagdaraanan ka, lagi mong tatandaan na kahit anong mangyari, ‘wag na ‘wag kang magpapalagay ng bangs.
