Five Movies and TV Series to Binge Watch on Valentine’s Day Quarantine

By RACHEL KELLY DAVIS

NewsFeed 360 has come up with a list of movies and TV series perfect for your Valentine’s Day celebration while on quarantine.

The first Valentine’s under quarantine is coming up, and all those extra-romantics are wondering what to do and how to make it special. Yes, some restaurants are open and are allowing dine-in customers. Yes, malls are open, which means movie houses are open, though seats are distanced. Yes, some hotels are now open for staycations. But the question of safety is still in the back of everyone’s mind. So, in the spirit of true quarantine V-Day celebration, NewsFeed360 has come up with a list of movies and TV series perfect for your Valentine’s Day celebration while on quarantine. We’ve even made sure that the characters are under “quarantine,” too!

Ghost. Arguably, no one in movie history has felt more alone than Sam (played by Patrick Swayze) and Molly (played by Demi Moore) in Ghost.  While there are moments when they are with other characters during the movie, they are most of the time lost in their own heart-wrenching version of quarantine.  This is perfect for this Valentine’s, and the fact that it’s a classic is a plus! Buy or rent the movie on YouTube Movies.

You. Not feeling romantic?  Or perhaps you are celebrating International Singles Day on Valentine’s Day?  Then marathon and (re-)watch the Netflix series, You.  Joe Goldberg (played by Penn Badgley of the Gossip Girl fame) reminds us all just how creepy a significant other can get especially when they fall desperately in love. This hit thriller is the kind of series that will glue you to your seat and keep you safely at home all February – that is, if you’re not the jumpy type.

Groundhog Day. In the mood for a little comic Valentine?  Groundhog Day is the perfect movie!  Watch Phil Connors (played by Bill Murray) in his own special form of quarantine as he relives the same day over and over while stuck on Groundhog Day.  Much like those currently in quarantine, he made the most of his time in isolation, and even found love.

The Lake House. A little bit of Ghost and a little bit of Time Travel gives us The Lake House.  Alex Wyler (Keanu Reeves) and Kate Forster (Sandra Bullock) fell in love while living in their own time and space. Can they make this different type of LDR work?  Not as complicated as it sounds, and every bit as cheesy as a Valentine movie should be, The Lake House was a Box Office hit and still a favorite among hopeless romantics today.

The Last Man on Earth. How could this not make the list?  It’s set in 2022, after a deadly virus wipes out the human population!  (Oh yeah, you’re staying home this Valentine’s, for sure!)  After all is said and done, Phil Miller (played by Will Forte, who also created the series) realizes that he wasn’t actually alone. Maybe a year from now, Phil will be more relatable than he was in the series. A post-apocalyptic comedy, The Last Man on Earth premiered on Fox before getting cancelled in 2018 with four seasons. Get videos on Amazon or watch via online streaming through Hulu.

All set for a movie marathon?  Don’t forget to order from your favorite restaurant, set up some scented candles, or buy flowers and chocolates to complete the ambiance.  After all, what’s Valentine’s without its mushy traditions?
